Burrow’s End

Privacy

This website is for reading, listening and looking. It does not need to know who you are.

Draft for review

A plain-language draft for the owner to review. The parts marked To be confirmed are decisions still to be made.

In short

  • No cookies, no analytics and no trackers.
  • Nothing loads from other companies: the type, the pictures and the sound all come from this site.
  • No accounts and no sign-up: you never give this site your name or email address to read or listen.

What stays in your own browser

A few things are saved in your browser’s own storage on your device, so the site remembers them next time: whether the sound is on and how loud, the reading mode and the listening speed, the spoiler lids you have opened, the choices you make on the story pages, and the quarters and corps Briar Hill assigns you. They are never sent anywhere.

Clearing this site’s data in your browser’s settings removes them all. In a private window they are forgotten when you close it.

Sharing

The share box only copies the message and the link to your clipboard, or hands them to your device’s own share sheet. This site never posts or sends anything for you, and never learns whether you shared.

The web host

Like every website, this one is served by a host whose servers see the address your request comes from, to deliver the page and protect it from abuse. To be confirmed: the host, and what its logs keep and for how long

When you buy the book

Nothing is on sale yet. Once sales open, this is how it is proposed to work:

The ebook and the audiobook
You pay on Stripe’s own checkout page. Your card details go to Stripe, never to this site. Stripe asks for your email address and whatever else it needs to take the payment, and keeps them in the seller’s Stripe account. This site keeps only a note of the order (its reference, what you bought, for how much, and when) so that your download links work. It keeps no name, email address or card details.
The paperback and the hardcover
You order on the printer’s own website, which handles your address and payment under its own privacy policy. To be confirmed: the print partner (proposed: Lulu)

Who is responsible, and your rights

You can ask what is held about you, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. To be confirmed: who is responsible for your data (the data controller), how to reach them, and the law that applies
